This Privacy Policy explains how Big Hungry Technologies LLC ("Big Hungry," "we," "us") handles information in connection with our mobile applications, including TrueHatch (the "apps"). We have written it to describe what our apps actually do today. If our practices change, we will update this policy and its effective date.
Accounts and identity
Our apps use anonymous, device-based accounts. You do not create a username, provide an email address, or set a password to use them. When you first open an app, it creates a random anonymous identifier through our authentication provider (Supabase) so your data stays associated with your device. We do not ask for or collect your name, email address, or phone number.
Photos you submit for identification
When you take or choose a photo to identify an insect or fly pattern, that image is sent to a third-party artificial-intelligence provider (Google, via its Gemini models) which processes it to produce an identification. The photo and the resulting identification are stored with your anonymous identification history so the app can show your past results and improve over time. Please avoid including people or other sensitive subjects in photos you submit for identification.
Location
If you grant location permission, the app may attach your device's precise location (GPS-level coordinates) to an identification you make, so it can offer more relevant regional guidance, and it stores that precise location with that identification. Location is optional — you can decline the permission or turn it off in your device settings, and the app still works. We do not track your location in the background or build a history of your movements.
Diagnostics and crash reporting
We use a third-party service (Sentry) to receive automatic crash and error reports so we can find and fix problems and keep the apps reliable. These reports can include technical details about the error, your device and app version, and your app's anonymous identifier. They are used only to operate and improve the apps.
Purchases
Any purchases or subscriptions are handled entirely through the Apple App Store and Google Play using your existing store account. We do not collect, see, or store your payment card details — that information stays with Apple or Google.
How we use information
- To provide identifications, recommendations, and regional guidance;
- To keep your results and history available on your device;
- To diagnose crashes and errors and improve accuracy and reliability.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share information only with the service providers that make the apps work — our authentication and database provider (Supabase), our AI identification provider (Google), and our diagnostics provider (Sentry) — each acting on our behalf. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your identification history and associated data while your app is in use. To request deletion of the data associated with your device, email us at support@bighungrytechllc.com and we will process your request.
Children
Our apps are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our apps evolve. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date.
